The COVID-19 Pandemic prevents MYC from using Culver Academy for our Fall Regatta.  Without facilities to host an official event we are having a Flash Regatta instead on September 12 & 13.  What makes it a Flash Regatta? Just show up for two days and six (6) scheduled races. A Flash Regatta has:

  • No Registration Fee
  • No Regatta Site
  • No lunches
  • No Saturday Night Party
  • No Social Events
  • No Keeper Trophies – traveler trophies only for Overall & Transom Fleet (formula based) winners


Just pure racing on Lake Max for C Scows and MC Scows

Starting at 9:30 AM EDT w/ lunch break


Also, Vanguard 15s & O’pen BICs (separate course/lake area)

Starting at 11:00 AM EDT for multiple races

Attendees must find their own accommodations, buy their own meals and please follow the Marshall County, Indiana, COVID-19 health safety regulations active on the dates listed.  What you do after racing and who you hang with is up to you.  Be responsible!

No registration fees.  To thank the volunteers running the regatta, we encourage a donation to our junior sailing program, Maxinkuckee Adventure Sailing, which is a 501(c)3 charitable organization.

Venue: Lake Maxinkuckee is an 1800 acre spring-fed lake with an average depth of 24 feet located 30 minutes south of South Bend, Indiana.

Rules: The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing and the Sailing InstructionsProtest form.

Launching:

C Scow & MC Scow: Lake Maxinkuckee Public Boat “Ramp”, 375 West Shore Drive, Culver IN 46511.

Let us know your ETA and we will tow you to an assigned mooring buoy/pier/lift in front of a host’s home but that does not include housing unless you have made arrangements personally.  Drydock space limited.

O’pen BIC: Beach Launching – Culver Town Park

Vanguard 15 - Public Access, East Shore Drive at 18B Road.         

Mooring Opportunities -1st come:

  1. Boat lifts – Equipment Host’s house
  2. Morning Buoy – Equipment Host’s house
  3. BYO anchor/buoy – Equipment Host’s House
  4. Tie between piers - Equipment Host’s - house

Housing: You must secure your own housing.  Your host has only committed to providing mooring accommodations.

  • Camping – Limited
  • Culver Marina powerboat rental

Saturday-only sailing is possible if you cannot stay both days.
